Mechanism of Action – (The physiological Process)

The OSMO patches comprise the natural mineral tourmaline, known for its ability to release Far Infrared (FIR) energy. This far infrared emission is able to be perceived as heat by thermo-receptors of the sympathetic nervous system in the localized area that the patches are applied.
This induces sweating under the region that the patch is applied, however as the water from the sweat is immediately absorbed by the patches (due to highly absorbent natural ingredients within the patches) the cooling effect is lost as water from sweat needs to actually evaporate from the skin in order to achieve the thermodynamic cooling effect normally associated with sweating.
This activated sweating will be continues throughout the duration that the patches are worn due to the ongoing stimulation of the thermo-receptors of the sympathetic nervous system resulting in continues localized fluid loss under the patch.
As water is lost from the reign under which the patches are applied, this will then lead to a reduction in vascular volume together with an increase in osmotic pressure in the immediate localized vascular system under the patch. In order to rebalance changes in osmotic pressure within the body, fluid shifts via the natural process of osmosis from an area of low osmotic pressure to the area of high osmotic pressure. Hence, interstitial fluid is subsequently removed from localized swollen oedematous tissue (such as found in bursitis and other soft tissue injuries) and back into the vascular system. This movement of fluid occurs via the micro-vascular bed such as found in the highly vascularised synovial tissue of a bursa.
This continual removal of fluid due to activated sweating into the patches results in a decrease in localized vascular volume, an increase is osmotic pressure and hence a subsequent shift of fluid out of oedematous tissue. This process is continual for the duration that the patches are applied and results in the reduction of swelling and associated pain in bursitis, baker’s cysts and other soft tissue injuries of the joints and muscles.

Disclaimers
* Our patches are registered as a Medical Device and are manufactured under strict GMP guide lines. The contents of the patches are formulated from 100% natural products and contain no prescription ingredients.
* Results may vary from user to user.
* The above testimonials have been supplied freely and without any enticements and whilst they represent very good results, such results may not be possible in all cases. It is important to understand that we do not promote our patches as a cure since there may be underlying causes that continue to set off the condition, such as inflammatory disease (arthritis for example) and excessive or repetitive strain to the area just to name a few. Instead the patches are a natural alternative treatment option to the current invasive treatment options that exist. They are intended to relieve pain whilst attempting to help the area heal, by naturally draining the excess fluids as well as promoting blood flow to the area. For best results it is important for the person being treated to adequately rest the area and to identify and if possible avoid any physical or repetitive activities to aid the recovery. Results will also be dependent on any underlying conditions.
